Barbara is an active member of the Lady Washington Daughters of the American Revolution. Barbara has traced her family roots from England to the United States of America in the early 1600's, making her a 13th generation American. Her direct descendants also fought in the Civil War and moved to Texas when Texas was a Republic.The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) was organized in 1890. It is a lineage-based society devoted to the preservation of history, the fostering of patriotism, and the promotion of education. Its 3,000 chapters largely carry out the work of the Society. To become a member of the NSDAR, a woman must prove blood descent from a person who rendered patriotic service during the American Revolution.
John McGee, Revolutionary Hero He fought in the 12th Virginia Regiment, discharged at Fort Randolph, Virginia (now West Virginia), in 1778. He was wounded by two bullets through his elbow and wrist and one ball through his shoulder.
